EBay fees under managed payments

Sold an item for £12 + £4.50 postage and got £14.09 paid out which I am rather disappointed with. That equates to a charge of 14.6%. Is that the correct rate? I was expecting a charge closer to 10 to 12%.

That is as per Ebay terms 12.9 % + 30p per transaction, which is very similar to Ebay + PayPal terms before managed payments.1

Is that 12.9% of just the item price or 12.9% of the item + postage price?
Edit - just found the calculator. It is 14.61% of the item and postage.
I will have to be more careful to wait for special Listing offers!0 -
Yes that is spot on, you can't work out as a percentage due to the 30p fixed fee per sale.0

eBay has charge a final value fee on the postage charge since 2013. They changed it back then as some sellers would sell an item for 99p with £20 postage to get around the fees.
Previously you paid 10% on the total sale value to eBay and 2.9% and 30p to PayPal.
Now you pay 12.8% and 30p on the total value to eBay.
The overall fee is roughly the same as it was (unless you had PayPal micro-payments for low value business sales).
Many people with the change seem to have found that they didn't really notice what PayPal was charging them before.0 -
If you had a micro payments paypal account before then it's more expensive now.
Massively more so for low value items. Some of mine have increased to 22% fees.
If you take cash/bank transfer/cheque payments you also pay more as ebay still charge the same fee even if they don't process the payment for you.
This is also a big increase on expensive collection only items.0 -

There is also general feeling I think that Gumtree and Facebook are better options for most cash on collection items as there are no fees at all.1
