Yep, I've got a Potterton which did just that! Only happened to me once so far...dunstonh said:

Every house on the estate had the same boiler and the Potterton vans were up there constantly repairing them. Once out of initial warranty, I used BG servicing as they covered the cost of repairs and back then were actually very good. I only did it as the cost was cheaper than the circuit boards and gave servicing. In the end BG lost money on me and I gained.0 -
It definitely would have been worth waiting for a day to take it over to the Tuesday - you'd likely have paid a quarter of this to a local heating engineer.
I went without hot water for 4 days (and had a 3 year old at the time) - it's nothing to panic over
