Fake trainers

I just received a pair of trainers I bought from a website. They were only about 20% cheaper so I wasn't alarmed they were 'too cheap'. It was a website based in the Netherlands and I googled them to check if they came up as scammers but nothing. They definitely look fake to me! I have messaged them but am I best just to ask my bank to do a chargeback now, or wait and see if they offer a refund first?

I think asking your bank to do a chargeback because some trainers 'look fake' to you before you get a response from the retailer is jumping the gun somewhat. Especially as you checked if it was a scam company before purchase. What brand were the trainers and which website did you purchase them from?1

I'm pretty sure they are fake. I used a website called pellesport.com. I noticed on the courier label it said 'sample shoes'. I have a previous legit pair and I can see the difference.0

The check check app has come back saying they are 'replica'. So, back to my first question - should I wait to hear back from them first or just speak to my bank. I;'m guessing the chances of a refund are slim.0

Wait wait to hear back from them, if they acknowledge they're fake they should just sort it out. I doubt the bank will act on your own assessment without the retailer having a chance to reply.1

Thanks all. I'll hopefully get a response. They really don't look like a dodgy site though do they? Lesson learned.0

It does to me.Hutch100uk said:Thanks all. I'll hopefully get a response. They really don't look like a dodgy site though do they? Lesson learned.
There are grammatical/spelling errors all over the site. I know they're not a UK site but most EU sites I've seen managed to do alright in that department.0 -
Did you pay the VAT on the shoes when they were delivered?0

The amount on the order was £90.28 but when I checked my bank account they have taken £93. I didn't pay anything on delivery.Hunyani_Flight_825 said:Did you pay the VAT on the shoes when they were delivered?0
