2009 Micra vs 2005 Yaris
I have recently bought a 2009 Nissan micra and have the opportunity to purchase a yaris at a decent price from a family member.
Nissan; 2009, 70k, lots of superficial dings/dents, non-working radio (expensive to fix), full service history, 1 previous owner, decent run around.
Yaris; 2005, 60k, full service history, current owner from new (so would be 1 previous owner), full service history, reliable and trusted car from family, mot due in june. opportunity to purchase for £900.
Not sure whether to stick with the micra, or go for the yaris, any advice welcome.

Why is the radio expensive to fix, out of interest?
It's literally a 2 minute DIY job with a used radio off ebay and some radio removal tools (ebay again, about £3 max).
Then it's just one or two block connectors at the back, really is simple as can be.
There are several youtube videos showing how it's done on this specific year and model of car.0 -

Can't open youtube at work, but I can see a video exists showing radio replacement for your car

depends if you want to change cars, you obviously do as are considering it. go for it.0

Going for a 4 year older car doesn't make much sense, not when everything else is similar.
Fix the radio, keep the Micra.0 -
As above, age before beauty.0

For £900 for a 16yo shed, I'd want a lot more than a month's MOT.
As far as the Micra's audio goes - there'll be facia adaptors to allow you to fit a normal head unit. Sure, you'll lose the nav. But I bet it's lousy compared to nav apps on your phone, anyway.0 -
It's also going to be about 12 year out of date.

It's not really an upgrade and you would struggle to get £900 for yours.
Is there much of a difference in the specs?0 -
A choice between two much-of-a-muchness options, so it comes down in large part to personal preference and whether the OP just seeks a change. That said, 2009 vs 2005, my choice would be to keep the Micra.0
