Mesh Wi Fi

Options
I'm moving to a new (larger) house and need to update my TP Link router that has done me proud for a few years but unfortunately I don't think it's going to cover the 1800 square feet and extra rooms. Costco are doing the Netgear Orbi RBK353 for £268 at the moment . It's probably their cheapest Mesh system but should meet my needs hopefully. Just wondering what anyones thoughts are as I have also been considering the Google system having Google speakers in the house.

My needs are pretty basic, working from home, laptop, phones and a couple of 4k TV's that I stream but no gaming with a 60MBPS FTTC connection.

I just need a reliable wi fi throughout the house and would welcome anyones thoughts, especially from anyone that has the Orbi or Google Mesh installed

    Don't have the ones mentioned
But do have a 3 Station Tenda mesh system set up in 2 different locations, does the job nicely
Considerably cheaper too, was only 60 for 3 when I got them, nearer £90 now from amazon

Tends MW3 is less than £70. Has been excellent for me. Couldn't be better.

    Plenty under £100.

Can still use the current router to cover a bit as well.

I'm using 3 of these in a mesh network, works exceptionally well:

Why not move into your new house & try your TP link router ??
You are trying to fix something that you don't know is broke !!

I'm going to but as it struggles in my current 1200sq ft property I don't hold out much hope and a plan b is a good idea

Our house is bigger than that and we manage without mesh, I'd try it before spending money.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

You have to be careful. Took me a while to sort out. If you have some devices on the router and some on mesh you end up with 2 separate networks known as double NAT. It causes issues with things such as printing and Chromecast setup where they need to be on the same network. Can be worked around eg by setting mesh to 'bridge' mode. Alternatively I turn my router wireless off and let the mesh handle everything.

This is the best option. We are in a 1600sq ft house and if it wasn't for the poorly positioned fttp outlet then our bt router would cope.

Unfortunately we have 3 small areas where wifi coverage is extremely poor, including where my laptop and wireless printer is located. I'm using the Google mesh network with just a base unit connected to the router and the other in the lounge where the signal goes straight up to the room with the printer. It also provides a strong signal to the kitchen and into the garden.

Wait until you move in and check coverage using a WiFi app on your phone.
