Barclay Reward or Platium

Hello everybody,
I moved to London last year. I have 3 cards, the so called "Credit Building" cards.
Now, my credit score is pretty good on Experian, while not so good on Transunion and Equifax here it is rated as: "Fair".
But now I've seen that I'm eligible for their cards at Barclays.
I wanted to ask you, which is the best between Reward and Platium?
During the application what documents will they ask me?

Thank you

  • The best is what is a) best for you in terms of benefits and b) whichever you are likely to get

In applications they normally ask you basic stuff like address, salary etc and then will run credit checks in the background e.g. may ask you which address of say 5 presented you previously lived at
With a short credit history and relatively recent arrival in the UK though it'll probably be a more complicated process

First of all, don't pay too much attention to the scores produced by Experian, Equifax, and Transunion. They are pretty meaningless and lenders do not see these scores.

In answer to whether you should get the Rewards or Platinum cards, it depends on how you intend to use it?

If you pay your statement off in full every month - you should get the Rewards card and get some cashback.

If you don't pay off your statement in full every month, then maybe consider the Platinum card. I think this card is best is you're planning on making a big purchase and want to spread the payments over 18 months interest free, or if you have a balance on another credit card which you want to pay off over 24 months interest free.

You should use Barclaycard's eligibility checker before applying for either.

When I applied for a Barclaycard last year, they asked me for some payslips to prove my income and give me a higher credit limit. Other than that, they didn't ask me for any documents.
