Resignation letter done 2 wks notice as per contract. No mention of their wrong doings, no job yet just getting out.  Got to be better than the last year... Anything that is!!

Obviously they were paid a fee for placing me in this permanent job. Or is the time lapsed where they would be liable to pay back some of it.

Most agencies only have to pay back fees if the job doesn't work out - typically this would be if the person leaves or is fired within the first 3 months, some will extend to 6. If you've been there over a year it would be exceptionally unlikely that there would be any financial impact at all on the agency of you leaving.
Also - being unwell isn't necessarily a major issue, especially if you are looking at being off for a week or 10 days.
All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)

At least you are prepared for their unprofessional attitude.
Enjoy your weekend, relax and know you only have 2 weeks to work. (I had 3 months..... That was hard... 😂) but it becomes a distant memory.
Not next weekend but the one after, it will all be over.

If they don't pay you, its very very simple to bring a case. It most likely won't even get to Employment Tribunal as ACAS will sort beforehand. It doesn't cost you anything and all it takes is a phone call to get the ball rolling.
