Driving licence renewal

DVLA wrote to me to remind me to renew my photocard a couple of months ago and the letter tells you the web address to go to if you want to renew online. Why do people Google everything rather than type in an address they've already got?0

I think everyone is being extremely unhelpful piling into the OP like this. I assume all you people telling him how silly he is have never made a mistake in your lives. I was caught out by one of these sites. I am currently in the process of reclaiming my fee. These people are selling a service online so are obliged to confirm with the 2015 legislation allowing a 14 day period to reject any goods or services supplied online. It is on that basis that I am challenging the fee. As soon as I paid I realised I’d been scammed so e mailed them 15 minutes later rejecting the contract of purchase. I’ll update you on how it goes.

It's frustration that people are so casual about the way they go about doing what is an important and often mandatory process. They've taken the trouble to do as you have done; come onto this site, create an account and make a first post, so they're clearly sufficiently web-savvy to have done some basic checks in the first place. Whether that's being able to differentiate between an advertisement and a non-advertisement search result, understanding the company behind and reading the contents of the site they arrive at or reading the terms and conditions they're entering into before clicking the "pay" or "submit" buttons, the upshot is that it's beyond a mistake and becomes negligence. It's not as if clicking on the first search result completes the process and takes payment, there are multiple steps along the way, none of which are being even vaguely scrutinised.Penquite said:I think everyone is being extremely unhelpful piling into the OP like this. You're doing the right thing to challenge the fee but I believe that if you elect to begin the service before the 14 days, the cooling-off period ends at that point. Might the fact that the licence renewal has happened instantly mean that the cooling-off period has ended?5 -

It's in the T&C's you agreed to whne purchasing this service.Plus you wasn't scammed, you just signed upto a service you didn't want.

"They are not scams, they're shysters," said Martin Lewis, founder of the website Money Saving Expert.
"They're not stealing your money, they're charging you a fee for something that is completely pointless."

It might come across as unhelpful but how in this day and age do people just click without reading what they are confirming? It is mind-blowing people input very sensitive details without the slightest due diligence, pay the amount, confirm it then go ooh I don't think it was that much, bizarre!Penquite said:I think everyone is being extremely unhelpful piling into the OP like this.
