Is this a limited company or a sole trader? If the former, are they still trading, are they listed at CH? Do you have a contact address for them, or registered company address? You need to stop calling and texting: send an LBA and then small claims process. Do they have any recoverable assets?
Without an address for service, you can go nowhere. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Its a sole trader and we have already sent the initial LBA which they replied to saying they would be back that week to complete the job. This was 2 weeks ago and no contact since. After contacting CAB, they advised me to write a second letter and this is why I have started this thread...I need advice on how much to sue them for; firstly, to redo the shoddy work they have already done as well as complete the other stuff they have not started at all. The quotes I have been provided is just to redo their work and complete the rest and its a few k more than the cowboys quoted me. I have already paid them more than half of the job even though they have not completed more than half of the job so just need advice on how much to claim for.macman said:Is this a limited company or a sole trader? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!0 -
I believe you claim for the cost of the new builder which is more than what you paid the cowboy builder; ie if the cowboy charged you £3 and it costs £5 to fix and complete the job, you make a claim for the £5k off the cowboy builderBe happy, it's the greatest wealth

That makes sense...how about if I have paid cowboy builder £2, then how much do I claim from cowboy builder now?welshmoneylover said:I believe you claim for the cost of the new builder which is more than what you paid the cowboy builder; ie if the cowboy charged you £3 and it costs £5 to fix and complete the job, you make a claim for the £5k off the cowboy builder0 -

I wouldn’t start any claim process until you get a final bill from new builder; I believe you have upto 6 years to claim from the cowboy.
you don’t want to claim for £4K for example if the final bill is £7k iyswimBe happy, it's the greatest wealth
