Switching from SSE to remove PAYG meters
Hi all
I am supporting someone who has moved into a flat with PAYG meters (one smart, one heritage) which are really not appropriate for him. I have been trying for 6+ months to get rid of the meters and switch to credit meters. Initially SSE sent an engineer who couldn't change the meters (the signal won't reach from the meter to the flat so one meter will have to remain as a heritage meter, and he couldn't switch the Smart meter to credit). After several more phone calls I finally managed to get them to understand this and they said they would book an appointment...it takes 40 days to hear back from them and another 28 for them to come out? Anyway, I have given up on SSE and I am hoping to switch and have the new supplier replace the meters ASAP but a number of suppliers have said that they can't do that as the technology will be different. OVO said they could do it, but you have to initially switch to BOOST, who did not fill me with confidence. Does anyone have any experience of this and could you recommend where to switch to and how?
Many thanks in advance
Suzy
