Aqua Card Old Bank Account

I wonder if anyone can help me
I have an Aqua card that i have had for probably 13 or 14 years. I have cleared the balance and the account is essentially dormant. In December last year, for some reason Amazon Prime took a payment of £7.99 from the Aqua account. I became aware of it in January and paid the balance of £7.99 from my bank to Aqua through my banking app. In February, i was notified of a missed payment to Aqua of, said £7.99. Of course i immediately paid it. I now have a missed payment on my credit file
I have checked the account payee from my bank and it is the wrong number. I accept that this is entirely my fault but what i am trying to find out is, has the account number I've got on my bank account ever belonged to Aqua. What i do know is that it relates to a Halifax sort code and i know Halifax (or RBS) used to own or be involved in Halifax. It's a long shot, but i thought if i could prove that this account number and sort code I've got on my bank account used to belong to Aqua, i may be able to make an appeal with the credit agencies and get the missed payment remove.
I have been in contact with Aqua and Halifax, but whilst being sympathetic, they have not really done much to help. My bank, the Coop, has provided me with some statements going back 10 years but they just show i have made payments to Aqua but that's about it.
Is it worth writing to the credit reference agencies to put a notice of correction or pursue it or is it too late? Anyone have any ideas where you can obtain old bank account numbers and if they ever belonged to credit card compainies? Or shall i just live with the missed payment on my record
Thanks in anticipation for any ideas

Don't put an NoC. It only ever makes things worse.
One missed payment on an otherwise we'll managed file will have minimal impact.
There was a change of payment details with the change of banking licence, to NewDay some years back.1 -
Having a dormant CC isn't a great idea as you can miss some unusual activity, as you appear to have done here. If you don't get paper statements it's easy to assume no activity and not bother checking the online statement.
It's always best to have a DD set up to pay any credit card - at least the minimum payment, but preferably the full balance. That way you avoid any repercussions from something such as you describe. But an unused DD tends to get cancelled by your bank after 13 months, so it's good to use the CC sometimes. It doesn't have to be every month - say, every 6 months is fine. Then again you could just use it for normal supermarket shopping and/or petrol and let the DD pay it off in full each month.1 -
If you Google Aqua bank sort code at least 2 different variations come up.
If you can find those details match up (I’m not sure but some online banking setups verify the account before you’ve set it up so it’s possible it was an old Aqua account) then you could always speak to Aqua/contact them that you did pay to an older account. It’s likely as you say judging by the history of your old payments on statements - it’s now an old account they had.See if they can still access it - and they may change the marker and refund you the £7.99 (as you’ve paid twice effectively)
Have you checked your Amazon account that your old Aqua card isn’t still linked? That’s an issue too.1 -
Thanks for the replies, i have a couple of things to try now. I'll certainly check the sort codes
Thank you Adam0 -
Why didn't you contact Aqua about the rogue transaction from Amazon? Would it fraudulent?0
