Refuge Assurance certificate from 1930s!

Hi all, I found a memorandum from Refuge Assurance Company Ltd for my Grandfather amongst my mother's belongs. As a full paid up policy, it states that payment will be due on the death of my Grandfather ( which was actually in 1993). It may have paid out of course, but has anyone heard of claiming on a policy nearly 80 years ago? I believe I can still reach Refuge via Royal London. BTW the amount mentioned is £3:9:0
TIA

If the policy was still in force in 1993, do you think that nobody would have thought of this policy at that time ? Decimalisation took place 50 years ago and the paid-up sum assured is in £sd and would be £3.45p.

I believe probably not claimed. Not a fortune even in todays money and especially when spilt by 11 grandchildren left!Old_Lifer said:If the policy was still in force in 1993, do you think that nobody would have thought of this policy at that time ?
