Washing machine in downstairs cloakroom / WC

  • I would move the sink opposite the toilet, and put the washing machine where the sink is now. It would be a tight squeeze having a washing machine opposite the toilet.

I don't believe there's any rules preventing you from having a socket in a downstairs WC, but you need to be sensible where it's located.
You cannot have a socket in the bathroom. It’s against electrical regs. The machine would need to be hardwired
    Any reliable confirmation?
I am no expert, but  AFAIK even in bathrooms normal sockets are allowed 3m+ away from a bath and/or a shower. There is none in this toilet.

Of course, it's worth having RCD(s) for all sockets in the consumer unit.

No, you aren't allowed a socket in a bathroom, unless it's a very big bathroom so you can put the socket far enough away from the bath.
    But a toilet isn't a bathroom, so it's irrelevant.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
