5 week month on UC?

At present claims are only being closed after 6 months of NIL UC payment due to earnings. I'm not aware of any plans to move back to closing after 1 month.calcotti said:
Only if the claim is closed. Under temporary Covid measures that may not happen at the moment. However it’s a good point and OP should keep an eye on the journal, in normal times claim would close with option to make rapid reclaim.Robbie64 said:Just to point out, I think you also need to restart your UC claim to make sure you get a UC payment next month. I don't think it is done automatically. Someone may know better but the original plan of UC payments automatically restarting within 6 months of a claim ending was abandoned a few years ago. See point 8 at the above link posted by calcotti.

That is how the system was originally devised to be, a claim would remain active / open for 6 months following a nil UC payment due to earnings. If the DWP have reverted back to that as a temporary measure they might decide to keep it as a permanent feature as it was one of the plus points about UC when UC was first introduced.

Keeping open for 6 months only ever applied in the initial rollout. Full digital service UC has always had the one month closing rule. It did seen somewhat perverse not to maintain the six month period as default (provided claimant maintains option to close claim if they want to).Robbie64 said:

Ok, so I am getting an extra weeks wage. But I still can't work out how I'm better off than if I was paid 4 weekly?. I get paid weekly and throughout the year will have 4 months where we recieve no payment. Would the same happen if I was paid 4 weekly or monthly?.
I realise I might be being stupid here. It's neither here nor there really. Nothing I can do about it anyway.
My claim is still open and with my next pay date on. Thanks for pointing that out up thread. I would never have known.

You receive more in benefits every “4 week” month than you would if you were paid monthly.Pinkystar said:Ok, so I am getting an extra weeks wage.
