I was given some flowers yesterday, as a gift, they are beautiful, and they contain a flower that I have never seen before. I love unusual things and would love to know what it is
The head is shaped similar to a tulip but the ‘petals’ are smooth, almost waxy, with fluffy purple tips. The head is quite large, around 5 inches from base to tip. The inside is shaped, not dissimilar to a garlic bulb but twisted into a spiral.

I've just been time shifted back to Chelsea flower show with the mention of protea, the South African stand was a stop you in your tracks one with their display of them, but as it's is the national flower I suppose it should be prominent
