The driver number on the offenders driving licence should have been used, and that is unique to one person.

Which is lovely, so long as the offender produces their licence, like a good boy.

    Fish out your V5

Check that the address matches exactly your current address

Have you moved house or changed car on or around that date ?

    No, my address was correct.
I did not even use my car on that day if I remeber correctly.

So far as not receiving any court notifications is concerned, wouldn't it be the address on the driver's licence rather than the V5 address that the OP needs to check?

OP - have you checked the licence address?

I have talked DVLA ppl via webchat. They asked me to talk to the court which issues this penalty.
Not sure if this is the right procedure. I am giving it a try.
Yes, it is the right procedure.

A court has ordered that penalty. DVLA merely record it.

I'm sure I read something recently where this had come about because somebody of the exact same name and date of birth had been found guilty, but had failed to produce their licence, so the driver number was unknown. DVLA simply picked the wrong driver of that name/DoB.

There was this one on pepipoo - maybe that was Biggus_Dickus too...

Good call though about checking the licence details as well

Although if the OP genuinely knows nothing about it - chances are its a mistaken identity

OP - why were you initially checking your licence details when you noticed it ?

    Thanks for the info.

Saw this from that thread. Hope my issue is the same, and I am able to find the right person to talk to.

    """Update - Success!

I've now ( after a lot of phone-calls and hassle) managed to get the points taken off my licence.

No need for a stat dec. More a case of getting through to the right people and telling them exactly what they need to do, rather than allowing them to blame the other party and fob you off (courts saying to call dvlc and vice versa...)

Once I got to the right person, everyone was actually very helpful.

Bradford magistrates told me that this kind of scenario (points put onto the wrong licence) happens 1-2 per week! Must be some very dodgy IT systems.

DVLA have told me the best solution in the future is to put a Stop code on my licence, so nothing can be applied to it automatically without me knowing about it. The only difficulty I'll have to contact them to get it paused for 24 hrs, if want to get a hire car.

Now to get my complaints letter out..."""

Very interesting thread on pepipoo MmiE, and no, that isn’t me I’m pleased to say. 😀

There’s a link in that thread to a ‘speeding fine scam’ where fraudsters are able to offload speeding penalty points onto an innocent driver;...I’m not sure how that scam could go undetected for any length of time but is there a similar devious  way of off-loading licence endorsements onto a completely innocent person with said innocent person being totally unaware for an extended period of time?

    https://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2021-03-04/police-issue-warning-over-speeding-offence-scam

Just a quick observation for the OP: if, as I did, you feel like you’re banging your head against a brick wall you’ve just got to keep at it.

    Asking the right question is the easy part of the process,...finding the right person to ask is often not so easy!;

...and that is never more apparent than when dealing with the DVLA.

    Update:

The court has replied my inquiry email with the detail of single justice procedure notice of that case.
It was not me but someone with the same name and DOB and different address.

I have asked them what I need to do next.

    There y'go, then.

Not having a driver number to go from, they picked the wrong driver record for the wrong Mr John Smith, DoB 15/1/1980...

Should be easy to get corrected, once you can demonstrate that it's not you.
