Does Apple pay change expiry date?

I recently added my JL card to my apple wallet and used it for the first time today. Checking the receipt, (which has very ropey printing), the expirty date seems to be 04/25. However the expiry date on my card is over a year ealier than that date.
Now I have had this card for over a year, and the expiry date has always been the same and never the one printed out on the receipt for the Apple pay transaction.

Any thoughts?

Seems to be? Could it be 04/24?
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

Yes, sorry I mistyped, The receipt is showing 03/24. The actual expiry in on my card is still one year earlier than that shown on the receipt,
I have no idea why I got the date in the original posting so wrong.

Apple Pay expiry dates are separate from the physical card expiry date and can be updated in the Wallet app by the card provider as and when necessary. With Apple Pay you are in effect given a second card number with its own expiry date. I think it's a bit more complicated than that in reality but just think of the Apple Pay card as separate from your physical card.

    Thank you for that explanation.
