british gas website hijack??

HELP!!!

just completed an online job application for british gas which took about an hour and a half!!! went through the whole thing and gave so many details including address history for past 5 years and stuff and once I had completed it, I clicked on another page on the website and it took me to a domain name buying place. really weird.

Has anyone else ever applied with them and is this normal?

Wouldnt say so.... Did you go direct to the website and enter details or was it from an e-mail or something
  • nah, direct there. My comp has been playing up a bit of late and if i google something it goes through three different trackers which I cannot get rid of (yahbags, something starting with 116. and homepeople) so am bit suspicious.

I did get email confirmations that they are dealing with my application.

Any idea how i can get rid of the trackers? They have been there months!

Sounds like you want to get yourself some anti-spyware aand probably anti-virus software! There are a number of free anti-spyware applications out there ... I use Windows Defender (free from Microsoft) though other people swear by Ad-Aware or SpyBot.

Defender can be downloaded from here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

  • I'd install Defender and keep that going and then run Ad-aware and Spybot every week.

    You can't have too many anti-spyware's !!
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical
