I’ve just had a large refund (holiday flights) and back has gone negative
the original cashback was given last year.
does Amex deduct this at the end of the year?

I know I can ask them but thought it might be useful here.

The amex cashback card t&c don't particularly make it clear, but I guess so. I wonder if you can lose the negative cashback?

Losing your Cashback All your Cashback earned will be forfeited if you miss two consecutive monthly payments on your Card Account. You will start earning Cashback again when payments to your Card Account are up to date

I checked in more detail and they’ve deducted £100 for 10,000 Avios points.
I don’t think I ever had those points as it’s a cashback card and Ive no record of receiving those points on Amex or avios so they have opened a case to investigate but it looks like an error.
I think they have their offers mixed up as it’s definitely a cashback card.
I will still be a tiny bit negative but a lot less.

There is an issue at Amex at the moment enrolling people on incorrect offers which I’m told will be resolved “soon”.
mine is definitely incorrect as it’s avios points on a cash and card.
mine is a debit but apparently it can also be a credit.

    Yes thanks that's all fine.
But there was an erroneous transaction.
-£100 for 10,000 avios points. I've never had 10K avios points and wouldn't get them on a cashback card. There is no record of them anywhere at my end or theirs. This was a mistake that they say is a "known issue".
I was just letting other people know about that.
