I have been a plonker

Ok so I have been stupid! This month is the 3rd month of my 9 months interest free with Virgin, I find out my wife is pregnant and have basically spent the month running around and not really focusing on things except looking after her. So I realise I have forgotten to setup the DD on the card and the payment. I go online and make the payment but it cleared 1 day too late :( :mad:

I get landed with £25 late payment fee and lose my interest free offer. So after phoning them up I get the £25 back but they will only offer me 6.9% for my remainder 6 months. I did try to use my story to help but they were having none of it.

So I have an Egg card, figured they might let me use the 0% on that as my anniversary month is in September...but no they wont budge either and just wanted to give me a loan at 6.9% instead. So I am now in a quandry....

Do I pay 6.9% for the 3 months until my Egg card is in anniversary then move my balance then or do I apply for another 0% card and learn from my mistake of not setting up the DD straight away.

    Get a new card. Or pay off your debt.

    The best 'revenge' - if you could manage it - would be take the 6.9% offer for now, but to apply for another MBNA card [eg A&L] and see if you are accepted with any kind of limit there. Then you could use you Egg card to pay off the 6.9 offer, phone up A&L, say you have an unused MBNA Virgin credit limit, get them to shift as much limit as they will straight on the A&L card, and then balance transfer back to Egg the debt taken off the Virgin card:

    Scheme

    Old MBNA Card
    'BT' ----> Egg Card
    'BT' ----> New MBNA Card
    (6.9% 6 mon) <--Payment--- (14.9%) <--Payment--- (0%, 9 mon)
    .....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

    Except that they are claming down on >1 MBNA card per person & that missed payment won't impress the underwriter.
