USB Flash drive - do you need to format it?

Just bought myself a USB flash drive. Do i need to format it before i start using it?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems

Most are pre-formatted with FAT32, but it only takes a couple of moments to re-format using a quick format, and won't do any harm0
