Pay @ pump didn’t charge me
Hi all,
apologies in advance for the long story.
apologies in advance for the long story.
So I went to refuel at my Tesco petrol station and used the pay @ pump. Did the usual process and inserted my card and entered PIN number etc but this time instead of giving me the begin fuelling prompt after 10-15 seconds nothing happened except for a icon indicating it was processing on the screen. So after a couple of minutes I took the card out and tried again but it didn’t recognise my card or ask for my pin again and it gave me the prompt I’ve been waiting for. I refuelled and waited for the option to print a receipt but the screen just went blue like the computer had crashed so I didn’t bother to wait for it.
I could see the pending payment of £1 on my account since last Wednesday but now it’s disappeared and I haven’t been charged.

Don’t get me wrong I love free stuff as much as anybody else but I think I’d prefer to pay. So my question is what should I do now? Is there a number I can call to pay for the fuel I purchased?

Yep, had this happen to me a few times. Last time about a year ago and payment was taken around 2 weeks later.KimJongUn88 said:They’ll take payment probably weeks later.0 -
Same here, more than once. Thought that card payment at pump hadn't gone through in spite of receiving the fuel. I think the charges eventually appeared on my bank statement about a week later.

If you get with the times and move your account to a challenger bank (like Starling or Monzo), you'll see in real time that when using pay at pump you immediately get charged £1 and then several hours later you get a notification saying the transaction has been updated to the actual amount.0

Not when the system has crashed like it probably has here. They'll go back over the transactions manually to ensure all the payments are taken - but as has been mentioned - it might take a while - so make sure you've got the payment available for when they do take it. Sadly it's very likely not free petrol! Just a systems glitch that'll come round and sort itself out eventually.Supersonos said:If you get with the times and move your account to a challenger bank (like Starling or Monzo), you'll see in real time that when using pay at pump you immediately get charged £1 and then several hours later you get a notification saying the transaction has been updated to the actual amount.0
