Money owed by matalan

Hi my wife purchased goods from matalan and only part of the order was delivered she has tried to recover the money outstanding but to no avail, having contacted Matalan on several occasions to try and sort this out she is repeatedly told to contact her bank as the money is being held until the goods are dispatched by Matalan,having contacted her bank they have rubbished this and said to contact Matalan

How did she pay - credit card, debit card, bank transfer, cheque...?

She may be able to get the money back through the bank by asking for a chargeback if the payment was on a card.

Maybe she will get the other part of the goods later. 

I think it's not a bank problem. The seller should solve and deal with everything. Try to contact them again.

How long ago did she place the order?

Personally, I'd feel a couple of weeks acceptable but not 2 months.

Are the items showing as in stock on the website?

Have Matalan given you any idea of when the rest of the order will be fulfilled?

Again, if it was an item that I really wanted I'd be OK waiting a couple of weeks but not 2 months. And 'no idea when it will be back in stock' would most certainly be unacceptable.

What does that mean?

Do Matalan advise the bank when they  dispatch an order and the bank send the money?  Never heard of that happening.

Has she checked her statements to see whether matalan took the full amount or just the amount for what they have sent?
What they are saying doesn't sound particularly feasible but it doesn't hurt to check.
