Reclaim Money owed from Virgin Media

Good Afternoon this is my first ever post so I will try and keep it short but get all the info in.
So I had to exit Virgin Media about a year ago - I moved and checked with them that they would supply the new postcode they said yes but when it came to it no they were unable to. I was left with no choice but to cancel which I did - they told me I was due a refund - I asked for it to go back into my bank but they have a complicated reason that it has to be a cheque so I agreed to that and gave my new address 4 calls later after a month or more each time I am still waiting my refund. I have checked and it would seem that this industry has no regulation so they dont answer to anyone? surely this cant be correct? Whats my next move? I dont see the point in calling again for the same lies I have heard 4 times already please help.

Stop phoning, formal complaint in writing. Wait 8 weeks: if no response or deadlock letter you can go to CISAS, who VM are registered with.

I'm not understanding your point. Sending an LBA doesn't prohibit you from using CISAS. But you at least won't have a further delay if CISAS can't help (as you've already sent the LBA). Under CISAS, OP is going to need to complain to VM anyway - may as well do it via LBA. I'm all about efficiency.pphillips said:

Simple, you appeared to be discouraging the OP from using CISAS.unholyangel said:

As I said, OP is going to need to complain to VM properly before cisas can look at it, may as well make it an LBA.

Thanks everyone - So Letter before Action is the next step? would I need to send it recorded delivery or anything - are they just going to bin it? I am not about to let this slide its about £50 but the principle is they have repeatedly lied to me. I have googled CISAS and am still a little confused I was told that this area is not regulated? From what I briefly read its not official regulator but follows the format as if it were?0

It doesn't need to be sent recorded delivery, proof of postage means that it's assumed the letter will have been received if it actually comes to court.0

Recorded delivery is not necessary, just keep the proof of posting. It doesn't matter if it doesn't arrive or they bin it, the purpose is to prove to the court that you sent it: the law assumes that despatch equals delivery.
CISAS is an independent scheme that VM have signed up to as an alternative to the Communications Ombudsman.No free lunch, and no free laptop
