Webcam Issue on Old Laptop
Painkiller
Posts: 6,146 Forumite
After doing a Windows Update at the end of March, the webcam on an Acer Aspire 5552 started displaying a chopped-up image.
I've tried Windows Updates, Zoom updates (the software I need the cam working for), webcam driver uninstalls & reinstalls, webcam device uninstalls and reinstalls, graphics driver uninstalls and reinstalls in device manager with no success. I've also tried using driver updater software to update the webcam, graphics, PCI and monitor drivers and installing a legacy Catalyst driver package with no luck.
This is how the video from the webcam appears;

The laptop has no restore points before today.
I've tried uninstalling the windows updates that were done at the end of March to no avail.
If anyone recognises the issue and could share a solution it would be much appreciated.

A friend of mine had something like that.Look in Device Manager (use the search box, bottom left to find it)She had two webcams installed.Removed them both, rebooted and it reinstalled just the one.0

No additional webcams in Device Manager.Tried reinstalling windows yesterday but the problem persisted so replaced windows with linux mint and the camera works as normal.0
