If indeed they have replaced the hard drive then its possible they may still have the old one .
May be possible to reveal some data .
They'll only have replaced it if it was faulty. Surely any reputable firm is going to physically destroy any drive that it removes which cannot be wiped and reformatted by normal means.

I think we are just assuming that the OP is a professional composer.. I don't see anywhere that they say that.

With hindsight we all know we should so backup most of us learn the hard way like the OP ... myself included!
  • ... I had 4 months of work on there (I’m a composer). ... I am in complete shock as writing music is not something I can just replicate very easily, there was 4 months worth of work on there that wasn’t backed up ...

Agreed they don't say they are a professional composer - but they don't exactly say it's a hobby either.

If it had been me and it was a hobby I'd have said so - or said I was a music student or whatever...

Most people learn after the first time.
My backup is 1 HDD and 2 cloud storage - with my most important 5GB of data (stuff I would be in an incredibly large pool of brown sticky stuff if I ever lost) backed up to 2 additional (free) cloud storage.
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!
