Question I parked in a bay in a residential estate ,in a visitor bay with a visitor parking permit, My pick up is just longer than the parking bay and I have been fined for basically being outside the bay, I appealed and said it not my fault the bays are to small, They rejected this and want £100, I have read that unless theres a POPAL number on the rejection letter then the rejection and the fine in invalid, and I can ignore it, is this true ?

No, that's stupid 'advice' whoever told you that?!
No doubt that's some rubbish advice from the CAB or whoever thinks that all parking firms are BPA AOS members and that all offer POPLA.
You need to read the NEWBIES thread, please read it,. Top of this forum. UKCPM are not in the BPA AOS. Please don't tell us that there is a BPA rectangle logo on the signs, please read the NEWBIES thread that already tells people about that as well, and it explains what 'PLAN A' is, in every case (and it's not appeal).
You can't ignore UKCPM because they sue people (we win, but even so).

It's not a fine , it's an invoice
Nothing makes a private PCN invalid
Popla was never an option
So please read that newbies thread near the top of the forum2 -
I'm afraid parking an oversized vehicle in spaces designed for standard cars is asking for trouble. Why do people express surprise? You can't get a quart into a pint pot!
You will always be dogged by this while you have such a vehicle. Righteous indignation isn't the answer, or the resolution.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

ideally the OP needs the new MHCLG CoP to include minimum bay sizes for parking bays, but that isnt a job for this forum, more for an MP to get onto the MHCLG and include in the new CoP due next year ( too late for this saga though )

spender1958 said:I appealed and said it not my fault the bays are to small,Correct, it's probably the local council there is a policy to try to limit car ownership in this country with minimal parking spaces, developers are therefore cramming what they can into the space they have, they also don't want commercial vehicle on new estates.Your vehicle is I'm afraid not welcome, of course that doesn't help traders or tradesmen either but everyone is fair game to a dodgy greedy PPC.
