Credit Style chasing Tonik balance
I am an ex Tonik customer (went into administration) and have received letters from Credit Style regarding an outstanding balance which I have been contesting as I don’t believe the balance is correct. However this is proving hard to settle for obvious reasons as the company is no longer active. I’ve tried to communicate with them but it’s like talking to a brick wall - they never answer the phone and if they call you, it’s just an automated service.
Today I have received a letter (dated two weeks ago) from Credit Style threatening legal action if I do not settle the balance, however yet again I cannot get through to speak to anyone about it. It actually says if I don’t reply to them by 21st Apr (it’s just arrived today, the 27th) they’ll recommend it goes to the courts.

Can anyone offer any advice, as I’m really getting no where and don’t want anything to turn up on my credit file/CCJ etc?

Credit Style are not a Debt Collection Agency, are not registered with the Debt Collection Association and therefore believe they don't have follow the Association guidelines despite acting as a Debt Collection Agency.Don't phone, try emailing. ...contact@creditstyle.co.uk, compliance@creditstyle.co.uk...If these are still blocked try richardmartin@creditstyle.co.uk for Andrew Michael ROSE Chief Executive Officer.Once you have made clear you contest 'their alleged debt' you can ignore future letters that will continue to arrive. We managed to hand deliver to their rather run down back street place in Sheffield - no letter box so letter delivered under the door. Also contest the alleged debt directly with Deloitte LLP {UK} Matthew James Cowlishaw and Paul James Meadows. Both emails should be on Deloitte's UK site.

Just came here to put up a similar post. I was in the process of a complaint with Tonik when they went into administration. My £400 credit turned into a £1500 debt and I'm now being chased by Credit Style.
What was your outcome with Credit Style and contacting Deloitte?0 -
Hi,
I am now having the same issues as original poster, has anyone got any further with credit style?
I left tonik in April 2020 and never got a final bill through, despite this I did get credit back and repayment of some of the direct debits. I've now got credit style hounding me for £274 but they are just stating this and there seems to be no proof of debt or anything like that0 -
I've just received one as well. It feels a bit scammy to me to be getting this now. I switched away from Tonik in August 2020 and it went through in early September 2020. I pay by monthly Direct Debit and never missed any payment. Tonik took a final payment in September that was almost double what I normally pay. I never got a final bill or anything, so I assumed it was all square and the larger payment was to get the account to 0.Tonik went into administration in October - after I had already left.I rang up Credit Style and spoke to a friendly chap who explained where the amount had come from - most of it was unpaid balance left over, and some of it was for electricity used in September. What I'm confused about is why Tonik themselves never took a payment for this or made any attempts to get it before they went into administration. And why now, almost a year later, is Credit Style trying to get me to pay?I asked to see a bill proving that I had to pay this, and he emailed me a bill with the final balance, and it looks legit. So maybe towards the end Tonik were just hopeless and not even chasing their own debts, and it has taken the debt collection agency this long to start coming after customers? The thing is, I have no way of proving that because Tonik never sent me a final bill, so I'm just trusting this unknown Credit Style company. They could make up numbers couldn't they? How can I verify that it's legit? To me it still all feels a bit wrong. I'm afraid of getting scammed. But Credit Style are threatening me with extra charges if I do not pay this sudden unexpected charge.0

sikora said:It's not really much help. What am I meant to do with the fact loads of other people think they are being asked for money they don't owe?I'm going to ask Credit Style for previous bills. Unfortunately I do not have a record of them because it was all paperless and Tonik have shut their website down so nobody can see their bills.0

I'm just pointing you in the direction of others in the same situation where you might find some answers you questions you're going to ask Credit Style0
-
request they prove you owe the debt by providing a final bill based on a meter reading.0

I requested the previous bill and they have had no contact since, so I'm certainly not going to pay. Either a scam or totally incompetent company.
