I received an email this morning with a photo of Martin Lewis about investing in bitcoin. Beware, obviously a scam, was headed 'investor alert '.

• What are 'fake' ads?

  For years, the UK has been plagued by online scam adverts, which often use false stories or doctored images of celebrities – such as MSE founder Martin Lewis – and wrongly suggest or claim that those celebrities have endorsed the service.

  Often Bitcoin or cryptocurrency scams, the fake ads can appear on Facebook, Google Ads, MSN News, Yahoo and many others. But don't be fooled! Martin never endorses products – and nor does MSE. It's so important for us to try to ensure that people don't fall victim to this, that Martin took on Facebook and we've written a whole guide on it.

• What should I do if I see a fake ad?

  Please report it. Please don't post the advert on the forum as you're only feeding the scammers that are benefiting from misusing our names.

I regret I was "taken in" when I saw Martin Lewis and Robert Preston invested in Bitcoin/Crypto last Apr £250.00 since then i have been badgered after I said I was not prepared to invest more and would like to transfer the money back into my account. I gave them my bank details but they wanted to see it on my Online Banking Account to "verify" it.
Kraken started it then a Company :

I have had over 20 mobile numbers telephoning me this month which I blocked and reported. I had e-mailed them saying I no longer wanted to do business, despite them saying I had £28k in my account.
i wish I had started watching Martin earlier. A Special Branch friend said as the amount was so small the Met would not be interested. Any ideas?

If you mean you have lost £250 (two hundred and fifty pounds) then put it down to experience and move on.

And do your due diligence from now on as you will be a prime target for other scammers now.
