O/S Daily Tuesday 27 April 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, cloudy and dry underfoot, but air feels nippy.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS1 getting ready for work. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had baked fish and veg. Tonight will be LO's from the roast.
Working at a new location was ok, although as things are not working as normal it's difficult to learn new procedures etc.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
We had a bbq last night, very nice but it got very cold, it was minus 1 overnight. Beano and I will go for a five mile walk today along with a few shorter walks. Steve is moving the boat today, we are very close to the tow path and there are lots of spaces further up with more room.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.13 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc.
Showery this morning but not as cold, I've been for my walk - surprising how far you can go in a short time.We went along the river and it was lovely to see a Mrs Duck with her 10 ducklings.
I enjoyed swimming last night although I wasn't very good at it! Back again tonight to try again. After a really busy day and 2 lots of exercise I thought I would sleep like a log but unfortunately that wasn't to be, hope I have a better night tonight.
Glad to hear the little dog doesn't seem any worse for her ordeal Ruby, poor little thing.
Thinking of you as always Gers and your DM, hope today is peaceful for you both.
Have a good day everyone, take care. XX12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A bit of a change here this morning, no sun and only snippets of blue sky, with a chance of light rain later. I can't remember when we last had any rain. Yesterday turned out better than forecast and I had a couple of hours in the garden reading and watering the pots.. I am going through books at a rate of knots with all this sitting out weather!
I am heading down into town this morning for a few bits I couldn't get with my Tesco order yesterday. I shall get off the bus by the chemist on my way home to pick up my meds and then stroll down home. I'll then resume the window cleaning I started at the w/e. Downstairs done now upstairs to do.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and poorly loved ones. Take care xx

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC - hope work goes ok.It's grey here, and we had a shower of rain yesterday, not much though.I was supposed to meet a freind in Newcastle yesterday, first time we'd met up in over a year, but her husband rang to say they'd both been up through the night with D&V, so our meetung was called off. I'll ring her later today, hope she's feeling better, and we'll re schedule.I don't know what's happening today, nothing much probably, no plansPoppy, sorry to hear you're having trouble with your back.Ruby that was a nasy experience you had with your little dog the other day, good thing your DH was there as well to help pull the other dog away - the owner sounds utterly useless.Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of Gers and her mum, Nan and Mr Fixit, DP1, Snoozer's Steve, and Dumpling, and Nelski. Apologies to anyone I've missed.Take care folks13

Good morning everyone
Well, I have had a dreadful start to the morning. This may be a bit TMI but this is what happened. I woke up at 4am for a wee as I always do and the worst thing happened. I use a commode in our bedroom as my legs are not very good since I had sepsis the first time. I was sat there as you do when the bucket underneath detached itself and a tsunami of urine poured out all over the carpet. Poor Steve had a very rude awakening as he had to rush downstairs and get the Bissell carpet cleaner to sort it all out. I feel awful about it but it was an accident (and poorly designed commode) and he gave me a big hug and told me not to cry. I have been awake ever since and I still feel mortified 😢😢. Anyway, I told all of you this so at least you can think to yourself," Life may be difficult right now but at least I am not wading through wee!"
Hope to goodness my day gets better which it should do as Jemima and the kids are coming over this afternoon. It is always so lovely to see them and get big cwtches.
I am in charge of cooking today and we are going to have a Thai pork mince dish with sticky rice. It is a new recipe for me to try out on everyone. Hope they like it. Other than that, I am going to have a quiet day and hopefully get some cards made.
Take care everyone xx12 -
Oh dear dumpling, what a thing to happen. If it's any consolation I think I would rather have a wee tsunami than the horrible dog fleas we are being plagued with. I spent £60 the other week on two more flea traps, flea bombs and a special spray which is supposed to stop the eggs hatching. We have sprayed and flea bombed and we are still catching fleas in the traps and being bitten, I am at my wits end.
We have a new mattress being delivered today, I hope I get on with it as my family call me the princess and the pea, I find it really difficult to sleep on even slightly hard mattresses and wake up feeling as if I have done seven rounds with Mike Tyson.
I sound like a real moaning minnie today, sorry. On the positive side Steve seems to be doing better so I can relax a bit.
Poppy, nice to hear from you, I'm sorry your back is giving you so much trouble.13 -
Morning all! Superchilly! Coffee on the drive was good, it's lovely to have a face to face chat. I wonder how long it's going to be until I find that commonplace again. Back in the garden again today. There's an area I want to clear of earth and a few more branches to take the twiggy bits off. And I would like to edge the side where the rhubarb is properly but I don't think I'll get round to that. It's extra jumper weather this morning, very cloudy with the whistly cold wind again. It says it's going to rain tonight, thank god for that, everything is so dry.So nothing exciting today but someone is coming to sharpen my lawnmower blade tomorrow as well as some of my knives. My favourite chopping knives have some nicks in them and I'm at a loss to work out why unless I had a particularly dense potato or vicious onion at some time.dumpling, these things happen. At least you weren't drunk and peed in a wardrobe or on the floor and then tried to blame my dog [ex boyfriend] snoozer, good to hear steve is better. Gers, hope your mother isdoing as well as she can. Happy new haircut florence! AOD, that's quite a feat with a bad arm/shoulder, you're still taking it easy then...
nanny, is there going to be any shrubbery left in your garden? You are no longer one of the knights of Ni.....Have a good day if you can, if you can't, make voodoo dolls and glory in wickedness! Stay safe!

Morning, hugs if you need one. Oh dear Dumpling, never mind although its mortifying these things happen.
Gers hope your Mum is a little better, snoozer, hope you get on top of the flea problem. We had a neighbour who had a cat, it always seemed to have fleas, who did they bite, well me of course. I made sure it never got into our house!! My Grandmother always said if she went to the local cinema she came home with a flea, she went on patrol with a damp piece of soap.........the cinema was known as the local flea pit, if you came out without more than you went in with you were lucky!!
This morning we are off to pick up the new to us car, it is going to be a bit of a stiff learning curve, things have progressed so much in 13 years. I am going to go to Aldi on the way home and do a shop.
We managed a bit of tidying up in the garden yesterday afternoon, sat out to drink our afternoon tea, it was very pleasant. Its a bit of a manky morning, very grey and overcast, mind you we need the rain, the ground is so dry its cracking.
Supper tonight is bacon frittata and salad, some cheesecake left from last night will do us for dessert.

Hi From Mehefinland
Just popped in to say hello. Getting used to not having to wear specs for the first time in 57years!1 Although i do need reading glasses to play on the 'puter etc. Ds coming home with Toxic on Friday. It will be the first time since Feb2020 that we will have seen him. Lots of changes since then so it may be a bit emotional.
Nags ok , just ground like concrete and grass not growing much. Funny how the nettles and brambles always seem to thrive!
Hugs and spoons and thanks for the kind thoughts
