Additional Card Holders and Section 75

in Credit cards
I know hopefully you all do know that if you buy anything over £100 on a credit card, if the product/service isn't delivered e.g. flight is cancelled or the supplier goes bump you are protected by section 75 https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/section75-protect-your-purchases/
Last year due to Corona my family's flights were cancelled. My wife had booked a flight for myself and my family, two transactions, as I was only going for 2 weeks the rest of my family for 4 weeks. My wife is an additional card holder on my New Day account, purely for convenience, we have a joined current account and just happened to be me that applied for the credit card.
New Day are saying we're not covered by Section 75 for the family's flight refund because it was made by a 3rd party. I take slight offense that my wife is called a 3rd party but aside from that they're basically saying additional card holders are not covered by section 75.
They're saying it's the legislation not credit card policy. I've not found anything conclusive to say either way, is there any point in complaining to the financial ombudsman? I don't know if anyone here has. If not this is probably a warning if you and your partner have shared credit cards you're better off having one each that you purchase your own items such as holidays on to avoid the disappointment we have.
Wizzair have offered us a credit but it expires in May 2022 so unlikely we'll get to use it.

As you are a beneficiary of the transaction, you SHOULD be covered, so I would escalate a complaint.
Don't be offended by your wife being a third party. It simply means that your wife is not you.
Unless of course you are, or believe yourself to be, your own wife, but that's a much wider conversation, beyond the scope of this forum.1 -
Thanks I have raised it as a formal complaint and added this to the mix:
"the purchase is made with the primary card holder’s authority and if they expressly request the purchase and will benefit from it – a family holiday, for instance – they will still be covered under Section 75."
I'll see what they say.
