O/S Daily Monday 26 April 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry but cloudy - hopefully sun will make an appearance again today, air is nippy.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, very nice it was too - some LO's but not much.
Dinner tonight will be fish - chips and beans for the menfolk, salad/veg for me.
Back to work today, I'm going to be learning new procedures at a new to me place I'll be working at sometimes.
Menfolk defrosted the outside freezer yesterday so that's all clean and good now - we're going to be eating out of the freezers to try to get rid of some of the stock and save ourselves some money.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks.A little bit more of freedom starts today. It feels like we've been transferred from a high security prison to an open one. 😀 Not that I'll be doing much with the freedom yet. There's a phlebotomist coming to take blood from DM and the window cleaner is due too.I spent most of yesterday scanning yet more photos. There was a pile of them I'd put in a cupboard after emptying the albums so they need done. More to do today in between times though I hope to get out at some point.Thoughts to our poorlies. Happy Monday to all.13

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I hope all goes well with the new happenings at work. Another glorious start for us but not forecast to be quite as warm as it has been of late.
As usual not a lot happening here, although I do have the excitement of a rather large Tesco delivery this morning. The worst bit is putting it all away but cupboards, fridge and freezers are tidied in readiness. That should make the task a bit easier.
The garden pots are looking beyond dry again so I plan on watering all those today. Cue for it to rain tomorrow! I seemed to have quite a few casualties out there through the long cold winter months and have been hopeful they might revive in the sun but it's not looking promising. So sadly they will be to turf into the brown bin and will need to shop for replacement plants some time.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and poorly loved ones. Nice to hear from you POPPY. Thinking of MARIE and NELS as always. Take care one and all. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning all! Not so sunny this morning, rather chilly in fact. I have some work to do in the garden and meet some friends on the drive later on. It's not going to be as warm today so that'll be good for proposed working in garden. I have to clear a space and put down a patio stone or two for the new compost bin. Dinner, not sure. I'm going to get some eggs when Lidl opens and hopefully be in and out of there like a rocket. I have a bean stew type thing for me. For the OH, I might make a spicy sausage casserole type thing. Or a kedgeree.Your poor puppy Ruby, but you know what they say, it's the owner, not the dog. Must have been scary for all of you. Hester, camelot, congratulations on getting up stupid early and excercising...What's the secret?
might we see a mehefin comeback now he's got new eyes? Anyway, hope you're all pootling along in a satisfactory manner, happy new week ahead...

Good morning everyone
It's a beautiful sunny morning here and I think it's going to warm up pretty quickly too. I was up at sparrow-fart again but will have my usual doze later. I have had my porridge and will be getting washed and dressed once I have finished messing around on here.
I have the nurse coming to see me today to dress my legs again. This was pretty painful last time so I hope it won't be as bad today. My lovely GP is ringing me this afternoon to catch up with how I am doing. God bless the NHS!
Jemima is coming over today as she has a week off work. She popped in yesterday with the grandchildren but couldn't stay long. She is still having lots of problems with her partner so I expect she will want to talk about it without little ears listening in.
Steve cooked a lovely roast beef dinner yesterday so I am going to make a curry with the leftover meat. I have a little Asda order coming this morning with lots of different drinks for me to try. I have ordered loads of fruit and herbal teas as well as a low calorie hot chocolate and different flavour squashes. I drink lots and lots of water any way but it will feel more of a treat to have something different to try.
Ok, must shift my bottom so I will love you all and leave you xx14 -
Hi everyone,
Nanny, I hope all goes well with Mr Fixit this week, I understand your feelings. Steve finished his antibiotics yesterday and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they've managed to knock the infection on the head. We had a bit of a rocky weekend so we'll se how things go.
I've got a blood test this morning and then it's across to Cambridge for Steve's before his next treatment early net week. We're planning to go up to Yorkshire after it so long as all is well, it will be the first time up there since August, very strange.

Morning all
Just finishing breakfast - was planning to be up earlier but I woke at 5 and lay for a while, then woke again at 7.30 with a headache.
I saw my doctor on Friday as I keep being very breathless - she thinks my Covid jab has caused an asthma flare up. I have steroid tablets to take and have to see an asthma nurse next week. I still feel very tired when I wake up, even if I've had a good sleep - another after effect she says. She did say that most people who've been ill after the first one are fine with the second, so I hope that's true - its not till June.
I need to pop down to the shops when I'm dressed and then I start work at lunchtime. Fine here just now, but we're forecast showers all week.
Better get myself up and moving - hope everyone has a good day13 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
Gers, I was flipping through the basket on the table near my chair, discovered a pile of photos I was supposed to have scanned years ago, we downsized from the 2000+ photos we had in albums, memories of holidays past. We just have a couple left, one of our visits to California and a side trip to Kauai, the other photos of the children and grandchildren.
We had a good trip to the plant nursery yesterday, a trolly full of plants cost me £54, bargain. There were a couple I wanted they did not have will call in later and see if they are back in stock. I now have to sort out the pots for them to go in. They are in the little plastic greenhouse for now until we are sure there is no likelyhood of frost.
Bed stripped and in the washer, its sunny but cool, will put it on the line. Need to get the fresh linen out for the cleaner coming, she helps me put the huge quilt cover on. I guess DB will be out in the garden for a while. We also need to clear the car ready for tomorrow. I will be sad to see it go, it has done us excellent service in the 13 years we have had it.
Supper tonight will be cold chicken I think. I need to put a loaf on, we are running short of sandwich bread.
