Netting for vegetable bed?

I'll also be sure to place onions with the carrots, as I'll try and keep the netting off more often than not if possible but I wanted to have it ready to use if needed!
I spent nothing - it did not look pretty but it did the job
I ripped up an old polyester-cotton sheet into 75cm strips. I used canes to make a frame and clothes pegs wrap the fabric all round. A few stones to weight it down.0 -
On deterring slugs, I've found that crushed eggshell works pretty well when used as a mulch - just wash the eggshells, put them into a closed sandwich bag and use a rolling pin / jar / hands to smash up into smaller spiky pieces. I keep my crushed ones in an old coffee jar, ready to sprinkle.
They do tend to biodegrade though, so need topping up once or occasionally twice a year.
