Is this a hollyhock?

When we first moved in I discovered we had inherited a beautiful peach coloured hollyhock. Unfortuantely, last spring I dug it out by mistake. Today I've spotted this in the lawn near the spot where the previous hollyhock was, have I got lucky here?

Looks like it.  Hollyhocks are short lived, so don't feel bad about digging yours up.

Oh that's good, I'll try and build it up and move it. Hollyhocks seem to do really well round here, loads of people have them.

We had one spring up in our garden last year (we have lived here 36 years) for the first time.  This year we have two but we don't know where the seed for the first one came from.

My first reaction was no then maybe to perhaps.
A Hollyhock has 7 main ribs to the leaf - but some are different.
I'd give it a go and see what comes up. I'd be inclined to pot it up first and see. If it's not a Hollyhock then it's a weed with a tough root system.
Hope to see you posting pictures of a glorious plant later. Love them. They produce tons of seed so try collecting some if this works.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

If it is a hollyhock and this year's seedling it won't flower until next year.

We used to have forget-me-nots keep coming up between the block paving slabs from next door's garden. Flipping nuisance! Moved house, somebody else's problem now.

Our neighbour had some 'interesting' choices in what she cultivated. The worst being a patch of Herb Bennet which constantly seeded itself in my garden and was a right sod to dig out.  Not sorry to see the back of the neighbour or her plant choices.
