Condensation and mould inside double glazing

Would I need to have to fully redo my double glazing? Or can just the window pane be replaced?
About 12 years ago my old man had double glazing installed, with aluminium frames rather than UPVC. He had some local guy install, needless to say he was wooed by this cowboy and got him to do the work.
5 years later there's condensation, steam build up, water buildup within the window frames, for nearly all the windows.

Yes the units on their own can be replaced. Search for local double glazing unit replacement. The glazing units are sealed so shouldn't really matter whether your frames are aluminium or UPVC, but if they've blown after only 5 years then they must've been pretty rubbish to begin with.0

They failed after only 5 years? What a shame it's taken this long to consider action - they would (should...) almost certainly have been under warranty at that stage.

You could have the panes replaced but it may be that the same would happen in 5 more years if there's a fault in the frames.Sometimes it's more ecconimical to replace the whole both in money and peace of mind. It should be straightforward as you're replacing DG for like.

If you can find a local glazier they will be able to supply units to your own specification - we use Roman Glass. Each unit costs between £20 and £40. They will provide guidance about how to measure accurately. We messed up the measurements on one of ours but it was still cheaper than using 'Misty to Clear' or similar franchises.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660
