Are show homes on new build developments built to a higher spec than the other houses ?

Bought one some years ago. To the eye was finished and snagging dealt with. Didn't stop us forcing the developer to replace all the double glazing a couple of years later. Nor having a running dispute, along with the other residents, over the installed heating system.0

On our estate the double garage attached to the 'top of the range' house had been set up as the sales office - I guess you could have asked them to keep it as a 'working' space if you got in early enough. Sadly, they forgot to join the toilets up to the soil pipe. The eventual owners took some time to find out.....
A later phase has resulted in a complete house being built on, what was, the carpark for the showhome.... not a house I would want to own as the garden must be feet deep in hardcore.

I bought a former Bovis show house, had zero snagging issues. The garage, which had been used at the sales office, was fully plastered and painted.0
