No power to dishwasher intermittently

I have a 3 year old Beko dishwasher (out of warranty). On several occasions now it has randomly refused to start. There's no power, so the LED lights don't go on. When I've left it for a day or two it starts working again. The filters are clean and the fuse/socket etc are fine. It doesn't happen mid cycle. It finishes a cycle and then at some subsequent point it refuses to switch on to start a new cycle.

When it does run it seems to be fine. Dishes are clean. Apart from on one occasion when it hadn't drained properly. I bailed most of the water out but it still wouldn't work. Until the next day, when it randomly worked again.

Given the fact that it's an intermittent fault and therefore might be difficult to diagnose, plus the cost of repairs, I'm wondering if I should cut my losses and buy a new dishwasher.

Advice welcome please.

Have you tried going through the fault tracing process outlined if you Google "beko dishwater intermittent failure"?  That might give you more information.

I've  had a look, but so far all I can find is how to run a test cycle so that an error code will appear. As it won't currently switch on, I can't do that.

It all depends how handy you are. Jiggling wires around to try to find a dodgy contact may get you somewhere but isn't a good idea if you don't know what you're doing. It could be so many things and you're right, if you call someone out to fix it it could take a long time and cost a lot. There's nothing worse than trying to mend a machine that won't replicate the fault for you.

Only you can decide whether to get it fixed or replace it.

I'm not in the least handy, so other than cleaning the filter and checking the fuse in the plug I wouldn't attempt anything else. The guy who was booked to come and look at it charges a £35 callout charge, and then anything on top of that depends on what needs doing. Also if eh comes out and it's working that day then I doubt he could do much. I think I'll just live having a part time dishwasher for now, while I look around for a new one.

Won't be a Beko though! I've had this one for 3 years and the one before for 4 years, which was also a Beko. I don't know why on earth I bought the same brand again!

Would be worth checking the socket (take it off the wall) and if it is one a fused switched spur, the FSU as well. It could be a loose wire in the socket rather than a fault with the WM.

it'd be worth checking the plug/socket first. try plugging it in via an extension lead to a different socket for a few days see if it does the same .

Most WM manufacturers advise against using an extension lead. Cheap ones are often not up to supplying high currents and could overheat & cause a fire. If one uses an extension lead, make sure it is a good quality one, fully uncoiled, and never left unattended.

My Electrolux has just developed a similar fault. It appears to start but after 5 minutes it begins beeping. When opened nothing has happened and it won't allow me to switch off and try another cycle. Leave it 2 days and it goes.

But mine is 15 year old (and came free with the Wickes kitchen) so not complaining

Does anyone have suggestions for full size integrated dishwasher please - makes to look at and those to avoid, thanks

We have had a Bosch for around ten years now. It runs once or twice a day, It's had a couple of minor faults, which I have been able to fix. It's bottom end of their range, so I guess about £300-400. I'll probably buy the same again, when this one fails.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It's on a double socket with the washing machine, and I haven't had any problems with the washing machine. The dishwasher wouldn't work yesterday, but it's working again today! It's bizarre.
