Incorrect Credit File on report

I really need advice here.

long read though.

I have one default that was paid off and settled in 2019, clears off my file by next year however the start date is down as 01/01/0001 and it has not got a satisfied date, balance shows as zero and it says satisfied but I have been stopped getting a mortgage from a good lender and they have stated it is this default that they are worried about.  Experian won’t change it without lender doing anything, lender has agreed its clear, I have letters stating so but mortgage is still no-go until my file is altered.  Lender says they are going to do it but its been 20+ days and nothing is happening.  I was hoping to get an AIP and bid on a house but i’m looking less likely to have it sorted in time.  Is there anything I can do regarding threats of legal action or such to speed this up?  Would I have any chance legally?

Don't worry about threats of legal action.

It sounds like it's already being sorted.

Did you/your broker choose this lender due to your adverse history? Were there other alternatives?

The lender is a normal bank, previously I have had to goto adverse credit lenders, before Covid I was able to get a mortgage offer but it all collapsed due to the lending closing down.  My own bank was waiting for one default to disappear which did but then they seem to have noticed the date and lack of info on this one and its become the one thing stopping me.  Its frustrating because it was paid 2 years ago, I have letters and proof its paid from the lender but the mortgage provider doesn’t want to accept any of that.  Just the amended credit file.

01/01/0001  - start date is probably confusing the computers?

Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

Mortgages undergo manual underwriting unlike personal loans.  Plus there is a broker involved.  It shouldn't be a "computer says no" situation.
