Two insurance companies

I am totally confused and my insurer isn't much help ..
Whilst stationary at a set of red traffic lights another car ploughed in to the back of me
The person driving the other was not the owner or keeper but was driving the car with the owners consent on their policy under driving other vehicles so one can assume this would be third party only
Both the insurer and the driver have accepted responsibility for the accident all good so far
Now the owners insurance company has got involved and my insurance seems insistent on dealing with them and not the insurance company of the driver
My brain is boiling and im totally lost
Any advice with thanks

I don't see the problem either. The OP's insurer is handling the claim and whether they deal with the insurer of the car or the insurer of the driver shouldn't make any difference. The OP should not be directly involved, apart from discussion with their own insurer.

the problem is the drivers insurance has admitted liability and the owners has not0

You should be pushing for is a replacement vehicle if yours cannot be driven and for repairs to be carried out asap. it's clearly not your fault so you should not be made worse off as a result. First thing is to regain your mobility, second is for repairs asap.
Focus on that rather than how you think the various parties should be dealing with each other - that's not really your primary concern.0 -
my car has been written off, and payment has been made my insurer is going on about lability and I could loose my no claims I can't see why they are dealing with the owner and not the driver who has already admitted liabilrty0
-
Anyone can claim anything but proving it is quite another thing.
Firstly, who has paid you?
What, exactly, is your insurer saying about liability? It's hard to see how you have any liability for someone rear-ending you while sitting stationary at red lights.
Is there more to this than meets the eye?0 -
No nothing more, the only thing I cannot understand is why my insurer is instant on dealing with the owner and not the driver the owner was not even at the incident
The payment for the write off came from my insurer0 -
I understand your confusion.
Have you heard directly from the other driver's insurer that they are admitting they are covering the driver's liability? If so then all I can suggest is you put your concern to your insurer in writing and ask them to explain their approach. If you haven't heard from the driver's insurer directly then I suggest you contact them first to confirm what the driver told you (i.e. that they will cover your loss).
The only other thing I can think of is that the owner's insurance wishes to argue you are at least partly liable for their loss i.e. for the damage to the owner's car. (Hard to see how though.)0 -
The drivers insurer did contact me directly wanting to settle, I rang my insurer who advised me to go through them, this is the first time anything like this has happened.
My insurer is going on about me loosing my no claims if they can't recover the costs from the other side, I have told them the driver and their insurer have admitted liability and asked them why they are going through the owners insurance0 -
Then all I can suggest is you start dealing with them in writing. That way if the matter needs to be escalated it is easy for someone else to see the history. Obviously if they do reduce your no claims discount without a satisfactory explanation then send them a formal complaint.1
