Insuring an off the road classic motorbike

Hi,

My father passed away recently and has an old B.S.A Bantam motorbike which he has owned since 1951. I found a very old originally log book for it that has the ration stamps in it. 

It is kept locked up in his workshop and has currently has storage insurance. It isn't road legal because its not registered with the DVLA as its been off the road since 1967. However my mother has tried to get the insurance transferred into her name and the insurance company won't do it. As the very old log book is in my fathers name its not easy to register my mother as the new owner. It requires getting an approved owners club to authenticate the vehicle and contact the DVLA to register it. This will take a minimum of 8 weeks to complete.

The insurance company has said the current storage insurance will be OK until the policy ends in June. However they won't transfer the insurance into my mother name because they have said they can only insure a motorbike to the registered owner. As my mother has inherited it and the vehicle isn't registered with DVLA then I thought it might already be in her name as there is no V5C form that needs updating. It would be no different than inheriting a lawn mower.  I know you can get insurance for trials bikes as they don't have licence plates and aren't road legal but they can still be insured. 

Does anyone know of any insurer that can cover a motorbike that is kept solely in storage that doesn't have a V5C log book? I need to find a way to insure it in the short term while we sort out how to get it properly registered with the DVLA.
