One Call Motor Insurance

Hello, I realise there are some threads here on this subject, but thought I would check out the current situation, if possible.
I did a comparison on Go Compare a few days ago, One Call came out top, cheapest. They had three stars, I'm fairly sure, at the time, so I thought fair enough, they're on this site and cheap, so why not.
I have had reason to 'chat' a couple times since and actually found them very efficient.
However, I have since come across some appalling reviews. I don't exaggerate. At the same time there are very many (very) good reviews, I can't imagine they were all planted!
I would appreciate any views, information, general assistance.
Thank you.

It wont matter how bad the company is.......until something goes wrong.
I'm truly appalled as to how many people buy insurance on price alone.
I've heard of One Call. Are they the broker? Which insurer are they using?
There's a lot at stake with insurance. Choose your provider wisely. Check the Statement of Fact carefully.

Very true, but some people have to buy with price the priority.Filiss0

I've had car insurance with One Call on two separate occasions. Both times they were the cheapest option and both times no problems at all.
I didn't have to make any claims and I never heard from them from start to finish. I have been driving for 35 years and found them to be reasonably priced and they also included breakdown cover at no extra cost.
I have to say that I was very pleased both times.
I don't think it's a case of chosing a provider carefully so much as reading ALL the Ts and Cs and ensuring that you choose all the options that apply to you, your lifestyle and your motoring needs.
I've used them before and may use them again, it depends what they are offering and whether or not I think their prices are competitive. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Although I do carry out careful research before posting and never intend to mislead or supply out-of-date or incorrect information, please do not rely 100% on what you are reading. That's reassuring. Thank you.Filiss0

I absolutely don't agree. Selection of decent insurers is exceptionally important. How one insurer will deal with a claim, is very different to how another may deal with a claim.
Reading the policy information and Statement of Fact is also important.1 -

Not reading the T+C at your own peril"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

They are one of those that go through quote details with a fine tooth comb and will charge admin fees etc if you've "estimated" rather than given the right answer. Hence one of the ones that ask for copies of driving licenses etc if you don't give the code online so they can check your "5 years" history really is 5 years an not 4 years and 9 months.1 -
My excess is £100, total. Haven't found any catches yet. No estimates.Filiss0

I've found their admin appalling and their paperwork requirements a lot more than any other broker.
No claim has been made with them, so I'm not sure how they'd deal with this.💙💛 💔0 -
A gain, can only say haven't been asked for any paperwork yet. Made first payment last Tuesday, so early, possibly.Filiss0
