O/S Daily Thursday 22 April 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry but cloudy - hopefully sun will make an appearance again today, looks a bit frosty too.
DH and myself are enjoying first cuppas of the day, DS1 is getting ready for work, DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was a use up of LO's from the fridge - egg, bacon, sausage, mash potato, mushrooms and beans. Not sure what we're having today but will sort out later.
Yesterday was a good day - haircuts for us both, feel so much better, I then went to the shopping outlet and had a wander in the sunshine, didn't manage to get all the main things, I went for did get some - so I'm happy with that. Today we're having a ride out, our main car has to go to the garage as it has a recall on it - but we will have my car.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC, hope you enjoy your day out. It's fine, dry and cold here, there's a good covering of frost, but it has to warm up according to the forecast.Bella, glad things are starting to happen with your house sale, i do hope it goes through without any problems.Didn't do much yesterday,I nipped to Al*i, did the usual household jobs and we swept and hosed the back yard so it looks a bit better. It gets a lot of sun out the back and I'm growing potatoes in containers, so I'm hoping for a good crop.Today we are going to Alnwick Ga*den, the cherry blossom orchard is in flower and it's lovely, quite bridal I always think. We couldn't go last year, well no-one could because of lockdown, so we are looking forward to it. We'll take a picnic, as always.May go to Alnmouth as well and walk on the beach, it'll be a nice day out.Hoping everyone has a good day - thinking of Gers and her Mum, and Snoozer's Steve, also others with health/life problems.Take care folks.16

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, enjoy your day out.
Alnwick Garden is somewhere I've wanted to visit for ages Scarlet, hope you have a good day.
Well done on the house sale bella, hope it all goes smoothly.
Another day of sunshine in store today, my bedding is in the WM and I'll put it out before work. The towels yesterday were dry so they went straight back in the basket. The chimney sweep came and did his stuff, he never leaves any mess so didn't take long to get sorted. I did do the dusting but no doubt I'll have to do it again sometime, just not today! The house is looking quite tidy after last week's mess, not sure how long I can keep it like that.
Hugs to Gers and her DM, also thinking of Marie, dumpling and Snoozer's Steve.
Happy Thursday, take care. XX15 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Sunny today, Beano and I are walking 5 or six miles most days which he is enjoying
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.14 -
Morning folks.Enjoy Alnwick Gardens Scarlet, it's always a fabulous day out.My al fresco breakfast was so enjoyable, the weather was warm and I managed to park in a sunny spot so it was like an inside picnic. 🤣 Alan and I talked our way round the houses. Next week we can have our breakfast inside the cafe - cue poached eggs and bacon again.Yesterday afternoon I spent a lovely couple of hours sitting with DM going through the final two photo albums. One is mostly photos from the various places she was evacuated to and some of her fellow evacuees. She had such interesting tales from those days, a few sad ones but a lot of less sad ones too. I can now add some photos into her unfinished memoirs. The only plan is that this morning Alan is coming round to help move the remote control for DM's bed. She can't always reach it now and it's an awkward move for me too so it just needs to come up the other side of the bed. He'll also shift the narrow glass-fronted wardrobe thing into my room which will give me some storage of my own. It's a friends birthday today so I've sent him and his wife a bacon butty kit. 😀 Advertised as 'Britain's best bacon butty' i await their verdict. It's great to hear about happy haircuts, new cars and new houses. My thoughts are with Nelski.Happy Thursday to all.14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's a beautiful frosty start here too but sun, sun, sun all day is the forecast. That'll be me sat out with my book when the necessary jobs have been done! Yesterday it felt as though winter was back with us, really chilly all day. DD and I got the seat made up in the hallway it was too cold to do it outside. It then made the trip out of the front door, in through the garage and out of the back garage door before taking pride of place round the back on the patio! I shall test it out this afternoon.
When we had sustained ourselves with a bit of lunch we went down town to the Fent Shop as DD wanted some fabric for covering the headboards in our new summer residence!! Even though I do very little sewing these days I love looking round there, she keeps a lot of Sanderson fabric at really good prices. I was eyeing up the dress material and was almost tempted but not quite. Those days are behind me now. I did come out with 2 books I didn't need though. She sells second hand paperbacks for 50p each with any proceeds going to heart research. They have joined the dozens of other books still waiting to be read.
BELLA well done on the house sale and so quick too. A chappie on tv was saying the housing market is the best it's been for a long time with all the lockdowns spurring people on to look for somewhere more scenic out of the cities.
ROSY thank you for thinking of me. Yes our Bon Marche has opened up again too which was a lovely surprise. I have been buying online from them over the last 12 months but it will be nice to be able to browse again. My last purchase was from the new to them Country Casuals range. A lovely top reduced from £45 to £18. Bargain!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and those with a poorly loved one. RUBY I hope your back is feeling a bit better today and you managed a good night's sleep. Take care one and all xx

Morning all chilly here so the heating is on for a bit but the sun looks like it will raise its head later . Costco shop went well there was no queue to get in which was a bonus and i got what i needed plus treated myself to some new boot socks for walking the dog merino wool ones I have been really suffering with chilblains this year so these are worth a go .
We have received the pack from our solicitor so i will need to speak to them regarding the thames crossing development which may or may not be happening i need to dig out the paperwork for the conservatory as well to get the dates for that other than that the day will be spent at home after two days of excitement and shopping.
Has anyone heard from Nels or Marie ?
Ruby Hope you managed to get some relief for your back pain
Hester enjoy the walk
As always I am thinking of those with worries or poorlies in particular Dumplings sister, Snoozers DH,and Gers mum .
I hope today is a good day and the sun shines wherever you are take care and stay safe x

Good morning all. The sun is shining here although there's still frost on my car windscreen.
A bit of ironing to do here and then we are booked to meet friends for a pub lunch. They live about 30 miles away so we've chosen somewhere equidistant to us both. I have to be back for an online music lesson later in the afternoon but we'll have plenty of time to eat and chat.
Yesterday I went to the City Centre for probably only the second time this year. I needed a new ironing board cover from JL and a birthday card but walked down to M&* at the far end to get a few bits from their food hall. None of it was overly busy but I wouldn't venture there on a weekend these days.
I've also been looking at places for short trips away. We fancy somewhere in North Norfolk for a few days but the ones I like are so expensive! Might end up in a Prem* Inn somewhere as that's pretty standard wherever you go.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Morning all! Super sunny again. When I was younger I really didn't like the sun and summer and heat but these days I could quite easily go and prostrate myself in the garden and soak it all up. For anyone who is interested, I cannot recommend the recipe on the site I visited yesterday for cornish pasties enough. They came out beautifully [ even if they did take half hour more in the oven - it might be on the wonk] and best of all...No indigestion at all! I made bacon, cheese and onion ones with a splash of cream. And they were moist. And I can't wait to have one for my lunch. And one for my supper...:) I did have to watch the video a few times to get the hang of crimping and the food processor made the pastry [and did the kneading for me] and instead of rolling it out and cutting out circles I cut it into six and then rolled those out to circles...Just wowser.Today, other than admiring my pasties, I have to go shopping for cat food. I also have to write to the consultant and tell him my aches and pains are back and ask for different tablets. I might indulge myself with some open air garden center as well, there are a couple of local ones with plug plants [ both independents and no sitting down and drinking tea and eating scones on the job, it's in and out] and pots. I am looking for two nice ones. I'm also looking for a border fork [ I snapped mine in half on Monday, it was a bit rusty though] and some compost. If the work does get done this year there are a few plants I want in pots, not destroyed by builders in the ground. So that's my day, eating beautiful pasties [ I'm making steak ones next time] and spending money.bella, Nelski is good apart from her hands are very painful so she's finding it hard to type. Congrats on the house sale! TA, hooray for bench building and new seating area! Gers, if you haven't, it might be worth you recording your dm telling you stories audio or visual. Enjoy Alnwick Scarlet, it's on my list of places to go. Might even make it this year. Hey all reading along, snap out your fancy gear and parade in the sun...if you have't got any, get your brightest winter gear and sashay in style! I wish a sunny day for you all.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi14

Morning, hugs if you need one.
I am financially bereft, have just paid for my new car. Phoned the garage to let them know and the lady on the phone said it had just come through!! So much better than the old way, and I know its gone to the right place.
Lovely sunny morning, but chilly, yesterday was very dull until tea time then it cleared up for a few hours of evening sun.
This morning I am going to sort the binding for Niblets quilt, so when I get the call I can collect it, put the binding on and get it off to its new home on Niblets bed.
DB is planning an hour in the garden, I have a new gardener coming at lunchtime to look at the garden, he used to do the garden for a friend, they are moving so he has some space.......this one is a trained gardener, so should know what he is doing.
Supper tonight is meat balls in tomato sauce and spaghetti, will sort out a dessert, might just have ice cream.7 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here its been lovely during the day but does get cold in the evenings, wm is on and the washing can go on the line.
Thanks for the good wishes re my back its still stiff and sore this morning but does seem to ease up with movement during the day, I have taken a painkiller so hopefully they will kick in soon.
I will take the dogs to the park today as dd has an online course to do she will take them later again as they enjoy two walks and they seem to settle more in the evening if they have a later one too.
Not sure about dinner but I fancy an omlette so might jut do that with ham and cheese and maybe a few chips if we are lucky
Got a meeting with work next week going to meet big manager in a park and get a takeaway coffee and find a bench for a chat, I am hoping they will sign me off a bit longer a I still cant lift any weight or stretch my arms very far and once I start my tamoxifen again on Saturday I suspect the horrid headaches will come back - will see what they say.
Nels I am sorry your paws are still painful xxx
Have good days all xx13
