Engrossment Contract for signature

Hello,

I am in the process of buying an apartment ad on the Engrossment Contract for signature it says at the top Dated, do I put the date under my name as it only has signature and witness signature at the bottom of the document where I sign.

    You don't add anything which you haven't been asked to. I would expect the contracts to be dated by the solicitors on the exchange date.

    Did the contract not have a covering letter telling you not to date it?

    Not having a go at you but it's crazy how many people return documents dated when they're clearly told not to. 

    Anyways you don't date it. It's dated on exchange. Also the contract doesn't need witnessed.
