So we have our hotel in Florida booked for end of May with Alpha Rooms having moved it from 2020. Our flight with Tui. Obviously with Tui not giving us any comfort that the flight will go ahead we just want to cancel our hotel booking.
We booked with Alpharooms on a fully refundable basis but when I called today I was told I have two options
1) Transfer booking to another date
2) If we wanted a cash refund we would have to accept a voucher which if not used in 12 months would entitle us to a full cash refund only then.
The lady I spoke to acknowledged that there was nothing in their terms & conditions that stated this was the agreement but it was all they could offer because of issues with their suppliers. I said that was a breach of contract, I didn't want a voucher (she intermingled credit note and voucher and couldn't confirm if there was any protection should they go bust) and I wanted a refund. She continued to parrot fashion reiterate I had two options above which made me very annoyed.
There were no managers or supervisors that I could speak to.
I am going to call back tomorrow. Any advices out there as a killer argument apart from to go straight to my credit card company?
I am also concerned if I win that they take months to refund.

If you can, go with a credit card chargeback. Alpha Rooms is owned by Teletext Holidays and any search engine will tell you how difficult they make life.1

Just go to your credit card company, there's no point carrying on with the staff.
It's important to remember you're speaking to frontline staff who are told what to do by upper management - there's no point ruining their day (which is already probably bad enough) to get the same answer.
If you want to contact someone higher up, try Twitter or writing a letter FAO upper management etc.0 -
