Can Tui charge more after booking?

I rang Tui to change my holiday and paid £300 to do so. I was told a price of around £5200 minus the £1500 I have already paid makes an outstanding balance of £3700. I received all the relevant emails, receipts, booking amendment confirmation etc. Then an hour later I got an email of a new amendment and the holiday price was £6800. Can they do this after booking and paying to change? I thought they could only increase prices after booking if it relates to a tax increase or surcharge etc. I asked to speak to a manger several times and after 3 weeks I managed to speak to some one who said it was an error on Tui,s part but the holiday does not exist at the lower price I booked for. I’ve asked for a refund but Tui said I cannot get my money back as it would be myself cancelling and I would loose the deposit plus the amendment fee, totalling £800.

Of course you can cancel for a full refund, because they've changed the terms of the contract after you agreed them. Unless there was something in the original contract that said that part of the price was an approximation and would be confirmed later, or something like that?1

The only thing I can find in the terms and conditions is they can cancel due to obvious mistakes but then they would refund anyway, they are saying that I have to go back to my original booking for this year, but as far as I understand this is classed as a new contract and if they cannot offer it at the price they sold it to me they should refund the full amount, even if the money was transferred over from the original holiday. I do not want to go this year due to corona virus and would just end up having to pay the higher price to change again anyway.0

I read it as they're honouring the original booking if the OP doesn't want to change it?Aylesbury_Duck said:Of course you can cancel for a full refund, because they've changed the terms of the contract after you agreed them.1 -
did you pay by credit card or at least pay £100 on your credit card,
If you did you may be able to put a section 75 claim in1 -

Though they also refer to an amendment fee, which shouldn't be payable if there wasn't agreement about the price for the proposed amendment.Aylesbury_Duck said:
