Vet negligence

Options
Hi folks . Am very upset, I have a bulldog called minky, I mated her on 26th February because she's a bulldog it's advised to book an advanced csection.  Today she went to the vet for a csection.  I get a phonecard saying sorry all 8 pups are dead. I asked why and they said because its 5 to 8 days early . Now someone please tell me if I'm wrong but I told vet conception date , they worked out the dates and booked her in today saying its her due date . Friday 17th they gave a once over scan to make sure everything OK.  Said was fine .. Surely a professional standard to meet would be to say the correct due date .... other than the hardship and distress to my family it has a value of approx 30k .. I really don't know what to do and are they OK to do this again to someone else .please please help with feedback folks

Nearly 4K a pup. No wonder some dogs are overbred.
You need to make a formal complaint to the vet and get a fuller answer as to what went wrong before deciding what to do next.

Out of interest what is the hardship to your family?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

What date was the vet working from? Did he have the correct date?

Obviously, the operation  needs to be done in advance of the due date. How much in advance of the due date is the operation done?

As a breeder you should know the correct timings  so you should have known it was too early.

If you did not know that then you should not be breeding and putting your dog's life at risk.

Do you have documentary proof you told the vet 26th Feb not maybe 16th or 20th?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

  • A vet cannot give you a guaranteed date. As the breeder overseeing a planned pregnancy and requesting an elective C-section, you'd normally be expected to provide the dates to the vet.

Did you perform progesterone testing at the time of mating in order to document ovulation date? It's the ovulation date that allows you to calculate whelping date.

The date of mating is not necessarily the date of conception, so any whelping date based on that can only be an educated guess at best.

Where elective C-sections are planned, it's far safer to know your expected whelping date than guess.

I hope your !!!!!! is okay.
