Hi
Just wanted to vent about the rudeness of customer services people.
Yesterday I asked a kitchen company rep to come round and give a quote on my kitchen - he was here 10 minutes and his phone went off 4 times and each time he answered it. After the first time I would have expected him to turn it off but nope. Don't think I will bother with them.
Then, later on in the day a mobile phone company phoned about renewing my contract. But because I didnt immediately cotton on to what he was talking about and got confused over the deals he was quite short with me when he had to repeat. Basically he talked to me as if I was an idiot for a bit until I made it clear that I did understand but I was just a busy 36 year old mum who doesnt really care about mobiles except for getting a cheap deal (I am however quite attached to my 3.2mp camera on my phone!!)
What is it with customer service nowadays - is everybody so obsessed with targets and scripts that they forget they are talking to a normal human being?
Ok - rant over

Yes it's true customer Services people are obsessed with targets & scripts, they have to be as it's a requirement of keeping their job. I worked in customer services for a while & got a serious roasting for not sticking to the stupid scripts.Winnings

Yes I appreciate that lucifer - I worked in telesales once and got told off for not reading the 'recommend a friend' script even though the guy on the phone told me his mum had just died. So I know it isnt the guy on the phones fault but still it annoys me:rolleyes:0 -

Yes but they don't have to be rude as well, lots of customer service people on the phone can be absolutely brilliant, but then there's the rude people. If they are not friendly to me on the phone then I won't buy from them, but I'm even like that in shops! I'm the customer, be nice to me or I won't spend my money with you. Simple. Unless they ARE the only people you can buy from :mad:0 -
It annoys me more that they still make the same stupid mistakes & use the same idiotic procedures that used to annoy me when I was on the other side of the fence.Winnings

I agree with you totally over the mobile phone ... if you are talking or dealing with someone else then to even pick up the phone and look at who is calling is down right bad manners .. unfortunately for some reason people seem to think it is acceptable .. maybe it is .. but I will still consider it to be the height of ignorance .. they are basically saying I am less important than the incoming call.
A couple of months back I was getting quotes for some work around the house and the salesman's phone went off, he picked it up and I told him that if he answered it I would not be buying from him .. he answered it saying he would only be a second ... I asked him to leave and started pushing him out the door while he was still on the phone. I meant to phone the company and talk to the manager explaining why I would not be buying from them but forgot.
I must admit though I have a short fuse when it comes to mobile phone ignorance and obssessiveness.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
I agree about the mobile phone, I detest people who think that it is acceptable to answer a phone whilst you are talking to them!!! I have asked receptionists to hang up before, when I have been queuing to speak to them, you get to the front of the queue and then the phone rigs and they answer it, the fact you have been stood there for 20 minutes waiting and the phone caller has been ringing for all of 10 sec. That really winds me up!!!!!0

where i work if the shop is busy the phone gets left but then you get customers then comming in complaining that you never answer the phone ! while all customers are important the one standing in front of me gets 1st priority. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Have you ever had to work in customer service directly dealing with customers, you'd know properly about rudeness then.
From reading your post your very sheltered to rudeness compared to what the customers can be like!
If only thats what I had to put up with, them answering a mobile call whilst I was serving them!0
