Do you mean a medical/ appointment with a Dr following an application for life assurance or are you meeting an adviser/broker to discuss a suitable policy?1

I'm embarrassed to say I've not really thought about it as just moved house and my mind has been on other things0 -
I would imagine they want to know your medical history and probably that of your parents and other close relatives in order to identify any underlying risk.

It sounds like what is called a "tele-interview". As above, it's likely it will ask the questions relating to your past medical history. These questions are typically categorised into a "have you ever?" section for the most serious conditions like cancers, heart conditions, severe mental health conditions, "in the last 4/5 years have you had" for things like less serious mental health conditions, raised blood pressure, musculo-skeletal conditions like back problems, digestive disorders and sometimes "in the last 2-years have you" to cover catchall questions like "have you needed any medication last 4 consecutive weeks or more", "had any investigations in a hospital"....yada yada yada. Generally the questions are pretty easy to answer provided you give a little thought to them beforehand.0

The key to avoiding any future problems in the unfortunate event of a claim is to simply answer the medical questions as asked, if the question is "have you ever" xxxx then that's what it means, it does not mean "have you ever xxxx but you only need to tell us if you think it's important"1

Thank you0

Well they have asked me everything, even if I think I have something but not been to the Dr yet. Mental health, physical health, family health, whether I'm going abroad in next 12 months, whether I have Covid symptoms. I don't think I'm going to take it out - it's only to cover a 50% mortgage and they'll find something wrong with me if I die!0

Surely they'll find quite a lot wrong with you if you die.1

Also good practice to get a summary care record of your GP records to ensure your on the same page. You would be surprised what they code on your records which may be incorrect or not aware of.
Same goes for when applying for travel insurance, the above info would be useful as we all don't have perfect memories
but you could always answer not that your aware of."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
