Pet Insurance - cost of replacement

'cost of replacement' seems so cold. A much loved pet can never be replaced like a washing machine or saucepan.

£1k would be more than enough for me because there'd be no replacement. But if you wanted a puppy from the same breeder now, you'd have to pay £3.5k. You only paid £1k three years ago. It's all relative and also immaterial.

My advice would be to renew your insurance and get on with enjoying your lovely pup.

Thanks for all the comments - there were some interesting views - many of which I agree with. There is no amount of money that could replace our pet - my question was not about feeling hard done by in the event the dog died or was stolen and we couldn't afford a new one from the same breeder. I was just wondering out loud really - it seemed odd but there have been some excellent explanations - thank you
