Poor road markings

Hi guys on a recent day out I found myself returning to my car to find a fixed Penalty charge Notice off the local council.
It was very frustrating as I had paid for a ticket in good faith.
I can accept some of the blame but I do believe that the poor road markings contributed to me making the mistake of parking in a coaches bay.
Had the markings been clearer the odds are it would have grabbed my attention and I would’ve then realised that it was out of bounds.
It was only after I returned to the car that I realised that the lay bay which can accommodate parked cars was shared with a coach lay-by.
There was a sign to support this which unfortunately may go against me as it is does state that I cannot park where I did.
I just don’t want to risk the fine doubling and the hassle of going to a tribunal if I have little hope of winning...
If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
Thanks!

I have already tried to challenge this in writing with the council but they are not willing to drop it. My only option now is to take it to a tribunal or pay up
Their response did mention that they accepted that road markings could be better but that the additional signage was adequate.

My question is would the poor road markings alone be enough to let me off?
Or would the additional post sign be enough to merit that they have fulfilled their duties?

As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there but please note that a hotmail address won't work - try using a throwaway gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering and post a new thread; here's your link:Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
